Simon good job. I hope you and your wife realize how this forum have
brought so many from the depth of despair, including me...
Thanks again.
yes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.
i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.
the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

was life that bad for you?
we are really sorry...
Baptized in 1971, elder 1975, left in 1987. Served in Central America and
rest of my time where the need was great . After becoming a elder I knew
something wasn't right with the borg. Not all the brothers (elders) were power
hungry but far to many..My eyes were open after i was on a committee that
DF a fellow elder, a good friend. I went to him one day and ask, what happen
with you. He told me read CoC and that was it for me. It all went down hill from there.
So I have been out since 1987, tried going back to save the marriage but
my eyes were open we divorced. Been together with my beautiful wife now for 18 years
and it's been great.

Ask people that were not a JW around 1974 and they will tell you, oh
yes I remember. They came to my door and told us this was our
last chance to be save. All family members who was not JW
ask them. They will tell you, oh yes my JW brother or sister told us
we better get on board if not your butt will be fried next year.

blondie: Agree "the present is the only place we live".
What I don't understand is that 99% of you feel the same, it
was a miserable time. Why would any sane person that was
raised in the borg turn around and do the same to their children.
Most kids have fun memories growing up, why would you subject your
child to that. It not is if things change in the borg, it became worst.
You have generation of gang members, in some cases it is the grandfather,
father and son. What do you get out it, death and prison.
Young JW, wake up. What was good for us may not be that way for you.
The old saying, what's good enough for mom and dad is good enough for me.
I know young kids that was beaten mercilessly because that was the way of
the truth, today they are still in the borg raising their children.

truthseeker100: "they left and cleaned a park". What the hell was that about?
ucantnome: why was the 70's the best for you?
Finkelstein: my first assembly in 1971 I recall was 4 days, seven days holy
sh---t.
ucanthome: 8 days, did you cover the whole bible word for word.
Bung bill:"mad people and of mad times" It was that bad?
If it was so bad in that time, what are the young today enduring..
Ding: "Stay alive till 75!" I think we made it.

others not in a negative way.
